A new sponsorship deal between Nil by Mouth, Dumfries and Galloway Council and Lowland League Side Gretna FC 2008 has been announced for the new season.
The Council and Club will team up with us as part of efforts to promote the positives of being involved in Scottish football and will see the charity’s logo appear on the back of players strips across the 2019/20 season.
The deal will also see the Council sponsor Gretna’s ‘Walking Football’ programme which is proving a big hit with the over 40’s in the area and Nil By Mouth being the matchday sponsor for next month’s big derby clash with Dalbeattie Star. The charity campaigns against intolerance in football and seeks to promote the sport as a way of bringing fans from different backgrounds and teams together. Annandale East and Eskdale Councillor Archie Dryburgh visited Raydale Park this week to present the new strips to Gretna FC 2008 Chief Executive Stuart Rome.
Nil by Mouth Director Dave Scott said:
‘We’ve always been made very welcome at Gretna and are delighted that our logo will be on the team strips as they compete in the Lowland League this season. Football clubs are at the very heart of the communities they represent and we are looking forward to sponsoring the derby match against Dalbeattie next month. We wish the club all the best for the season ahead.’
Cllr Archie Dryburgh Said:
‘Football is a real passion of mine and I was a volunteer at Annan Athletic for a number of years. I’m very proud of all the local clubs in our region and know that football can be a real force for good. We hope this initiative will reach fans and encourage them to find out more about the work of Nil by Mouth and come along to Raydale to take part in the Walking Football Programme which is proving very popular.’
