Nil by Mouth is delighted to have received a £2,500 funding boost from leading grant making charity ShareGift.
ShareGift is a unique charity which specialises in accepting donations of shares, particularly small holdings of shares which are not worth selling on their own. ShareGift then realise as much value as possible from these shares by aggregating them, selling them and using the proceeds to make donations to a wide range of UK registered charities.
The donation will be used to support Nil by Mouth’s ground breaking work in schools. During 2014/15 alone we worked in over 60 schools across 20 local authority areas reaching thousands of pupils.
It’s the latest piece of good news for Nil by Mouth, as it marks its 15th anniversary, after founder Cara Henderson was named Evening Times ‘Scotswoman of the Year’ and it was adopted by Scottish Women in Business as their ‘Charity of the Year’ for 2015.
Nil by Mouth Campaign Director Dave Scott said:
‘This is a fantastic boost for our work and another positive development in this our 15th year of campaigning against sectarianism. We would like to thank Sharegift and those involved in donating their shares for the encouragement and support. The donation will help us continue to reach young people bring our message of change to schools right across Scotland. ‘
Julian Roberts, Chief Executive, of ShareGift said:
‘Our policy each time we distribute funds is to select a wide range of charities whose work is of interest to the people who give us their unwanted shares. Our donations re made as unrestricted funding and charities may choose to put donations towards their core costs of they wish. We believe that this is the most effective way in which we can help charities with their work. ShareGift has now been able to give to more than 2,000 charities and our donations now total over £18million, It gives us great pleasure to make this gift to Nil by Mouth and we wish them every success with their work. ‘
